THE PROBLEM
Amidst the global pandemic of COVID-19, the need for rapid and efficient diagnostic solutions became mission critical as the world was caught in a tailspin. Traditional testing methods were time-consuming, labor-intensive, and often faced challenges in scalability. Our partner company recognized the urgent need for an innovative diagnostic device that could streamline the testing process, providing quick and accurate results while maintaining ease of use.
THE SOLUTION
In response to the pressing challenge, our teams hit the ground running in a collaborated effort - which aimed to create a state-of-the-art COVID-19 diagnostic device that could intelligently accept nasal or throat swabs, employ microfluidic processes on a consumable cartridge featuring blister-packed reagents, and seamlessly communicate results to an electronic analyzer. In a few short months, our teams quickly iterated on the design of the device - performing thorough testing and trade off analyses and expeditiously manufacturing a prototype device.
